On May 4, 2016, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced an industry-wide expansion of the Takata Inflator Recalls. The Takata Airbag safety recall is the largest recall in automotive history, involving 19 automakers and tens of millions of airbags. Defective airbags can cause serious injury if not repaired immediately. If you own a Toyota, Scion or Lexus manufactured between 2002 and 2017, your vehicle may be subject to a Safety Recall for the Takata Front Passenger Airbag Inflator or Takata Driver’s Airbag Inflator.
